Protect Our Children

I realize that every generation says that it’s a harder “day” than their parents lived in, and although every generation had tough things to deal with, THIS point in time seems pretty rough to me! We survived a virus that not all survived. We were told by the news that just going outside could kill you. So, for almost 2 years, we stayed away from family and friends, and we wore masks when we went out.

In the midst of this, we now are fighting things like “Family Friendly” drag shows. My question is, why do you want the children to see this? I have seen drag shows. The one I saw was not only not appropriate for children, but it wasn’t appropriate for me! Our children are being battered on every side. My 12 yr. old granddaughter told me that many kids in her school in Yorkville identify as “gay” or something similar. I am sorry, but at 12, I had all I could handle to just “do life” without worrying about my sexuality, and THAT isn’t something 12 yr. olds need to deal with. They are NOT equipped mentally. 

I know that many of you went to see the movie “Sounds of Freedom”. If you haven’t, please do. It is truly eye opening. It is the true story of a man who rescues children who have been abducted and are being used as “sex workers”. I cannot think of anything sadder or more heinous. What evil fills the hearts and minds of people who do this? But they say, you can sell cocaine once, you can sell a body several times a day. It’s all about the money. 

So, if I have not completely ruined your day with these tough ideas to grasp, take heart. God is in control! He has not given you a spirit of fear.

2 Tim 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

At a time when confusion and lies are so frequent that we wrestle with it daily, we CAN remember that God has raised up people for generations to deal with difficult times. 

David stepped up to handle Goliath. Esther stepped up to save her people. Sampson stepped up to defeat the enemy. Daniel stepped up to face the Lions. Now as parents and grandparents, WE need to step up. We NEED to be sure that our children have a living knowledge of who Jesus is and what He can do in their lives. When you fear this world we live in for your children, REMEMBER, God in his ALL KNOWING, all seeing wisdom, brought each one of us into this world at the time that he did for a reason. He has given each of us a skill, a personality and a love to do what he calls us to do for today.

I know of no greater weapon than prayer and frankly, what easier option could we get than to go before an almighty God to fight for our children. It doesn’t take long, you can do it any place, and it’s FREE! 

Father, we come before you today to plead for our children. We ask that you would protect them, physically, spiritually, and emotionally. We ask that you would shelter them from the evil that invades our world. We pray that as we go into the school year, our children won’t have to live in fear because they know they have a God that goes with them everywhere. 

In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
