Death was Arrested

Lam 3:22-23The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases,[a]

    his mercies never come to an end;

23 they are new every morning;

    great is your faithfulness.

Probably everyone has heard this verse, even if you have never read Lamentations. It is a cornerstone of our faith. God’s amazing love for us NEVER stops. It goes on forever! No matter how many times you fall, if you have given your life to Jesus, He will help pick you up and dust you off. Sometimes our nights are dark with sin. But every morning He lifts us out of the miry clay because every morning is new. Every morning He shows us mercy and grace for each new day.

The bible tells us that we sin every day, many times a day. That is just our fallen nature. If you do not believe you sin, you need to get to know Jesus a little better. He sets a very high standard. He is perfect and He is the only one who is. Thankfully, He died on the cross so that we may be made “perfect” and acceptable to God. How amazing is that? He could have left us in our sin, but He is too perfect to look upon us in our sin. In His gracious mercy, He found a way for us to live with Him forever in heaven.

Have you ever had one of those nights? You are exhausted but when you lay down, your mind suddenly goes crazy. It’s awful! One thing I have tried is playing Praise music. It helps!! I also have WBGL on the radio at home and in the car. The music is so uplifting and comforting. In church recently we sang “Death was Arrested”.

“Alone in my sorrow and dead in my sin, Lost without hope with no place to begin

Your love Made a way to let mercy come in, When death was arrested and my life began

Oh, Your grace so free, Washes over me, You have made me new, Now life begins with You

It's your endless love, Pouring down on us, You have made us new, Now life begins with You”

I know I have felt that “lost without hope” feeling. That’s why I know the amazing feeling when His grace hits you. I absolutely love the visual of God’s grace WASHING over me, covering me completely, like an ocean wave.

Lord, you paid a debt that I could not pay, your grace is a miracle of Love. I couldn’t pay it, and I can’t repay you. But the amazing part about your love is that you do not expect us to. Thank you Jesus! Amen!
