Water
Water
Water is a necessity of life. Our bodies are made up of 50% -70% of water. We need water to drink to stay alive. We need water for bathing and washing our clothes and so many other things. It’s easy to say that without water we would not live. Water can be destructive. If you’ve ever seen the effects of a flood on an area on the news, you know how destructive it can be. I have seen the effects of a constant drip of water on a rock. The rock is so hard, but in spite of that, the constant water drip in the same place will eventually wear pits in the rock. But the Bible talks about water as well. We know that water is from God because it is a good thing. And all good things come from God. Water is also used in baptism. John the Baptist baptized many people in the river, and Jesus was one of them. Most Christians are baptized. In Jaimie McDonald’s song about baptism, she speaks of leaving everything in the river.
I said a prayer from the banks of a river
God met me there, showing me something better
Mmm-mmm
My life was changed
When I stepped into the water
Ain’t seen my chains
Since I gave ‘em to the Father
Hallelujah, I've been delivered
Where is my guilt?
Whеre is my shame?
I left it in thе river, (River), oh
I left it in the river, (River), oh
We know that Baptism, although a sacrament, doesn’t save us, but it does bring us closer to God.
Matthew 28:18-20 says: “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.’”
In John 3 the Bible speaks of baptism. John 3:35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands. 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
We see here how Jesus is in God, a part or the same as God.
God wants everyone to be saved and spend eternity in heaven with Him. We all have loved ones who are not “there” yet in their walk.
Gracious Father, we ask that you would put someone in our loved one’s paths that they might teach them of you. When possible, give us words to say that will plant seeds of faith so that God will harvest them at the appropriate time. Amen
