Feel Good Church

Feel Good Church

In the morning, I drink my coffee and check the news. I also check social media to see what my grandkids and friends are up to. This morning, I happened to see 3 different videos about pastors. The first was a pastor saying that he preaches about what’s happening in the world because it is what people relate to. He says if he stops preaching current events that so many people would miss the message. Although after listening to him, I still am not sure what the message was. The 2nd were 2 women pastors from Canada. That was REALLY frightening! They had colorful paint on their face like a child who just left the face painters booth at a fair. Their hair was rainbow colored as well. You can only image what their message is. The 3rd was an angry man screaming about what God wants from you and how disappointed He is in you. After listening to him, I really heard no biblical message either. Just disdain. Now, I am sure that God does get disgusted with us. We know His laws and yet, we break them without a second thought. But where’s the grace? If you just tell people how bad they are, why would they come back? The Bible is a whole package. It has the laws and rules that we should live by. It has examples of what happens to people if they ignore God’s request to do something. (like Jonah). Best of all, it has the life and death of Jesus so that we can KNOW that we are forgiven for our sins. I saw a video with Charlie Kirk speaking to a young woman. She was so angry that he was even there. She tried to confront him (calling him names and verbally attacking him). He, of course was patient and loving. Anything at all that he said about Christ was immediately discounted by her and finally out of frustration she screamed, “He isn’t real!! There is no such thing as Jesus!” Charlie’s reply was simple, “yes there is and whether you believe in Him or not, you will meet him one day. I prefer that you would know Him before that because I hate to think of you in hell.”

Charlie’s answer is exactly WHY it is important to go to a church that tells you the truth. 2 Tim 4:3 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions.

We do not go to church to “feel good”. It is not the pastors place to tell us what we want to hear. God’s love and grace are the cornerstone of our faith, but if a pastor isn’t telling you all of the truth, he isn’t saving anyone. At a time in history when things are going “downhill” quickly, we need to be in our bibles. We need to be pursuing Jesus with our whole hearts. Jesus could come for us at any moment. We need to KNOW Jesus. There will be many false prophets. With AI becoming a very real and present danger, we need to be able to discern truth from deception. John 10: 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

I have said this before, but it seems that every day we get closer. Tomorrow isn’t promised to anyone so do not wait!! Give your life to Jesus and get to know Him.

Lord, Thank you that there are still churches that do preach the gospel, and I belong to one. Amen
