Mountain Tops and Valleys
Mountains Tops and Valleys
You can't see grace for what it is
Until You need it most
You don't know what You really have
Until You lose it all
I've seen Your goodness
In the best, the worst
The joy, the hurt
Every loss and every win
So I'm calling out again
Meet me in the valley, I need You, Lord
Be my shield in the middle of the war
Tell me that I'll make it when I'm not sure. CHORUS
You'll be faithful like You've been before
Meet me in the valley
Meet me in the valley
Meet me in the valley
If this is where the broken things
Are healed and brought to life
Then lead me through the wilderness
But keep me by Your side
I've seen Your hand at work
In the best, the worst, the joy, the hurt
Every tear that hit the ground
Is a testimony now
CHORUS
What You said on the mountain
Is still true in the valley
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me, follow me
All You've said on the mountain
I'll believe in the valley
Surely goodness and mercy will follow me, follow me, oh-oh (meet me in the valley)
(Meet me in the valley) oh (meet me in the valley, meet me in the valley)
Meet me in this valley
Come meet me in this valley, I need You, Lord
I need You, Lord, ooh, oh yeah, ooh, ooh
Meet me in the valley, I need You, Lord
Be my shield in the middle of the war
Tell me that I'll make it when I'm not sure
You'll be faithful, oh, You've been before
Tasha Layton sings this song. Valleys. We have all been there. It’s tough and it even hurts to watch people we care about when they are in a valley. I recently heard someone say that you should not try to “fix” someone’s valley because it is in the valley that our faith grows. It is in our worst times that we come closer to God than any other time. It can be a time of great sorrow or stress. But that’s when we feel Him draw near. The mountain top is an amazing place to be. But it’s not where we live. We live in a reality which sends us to the valley sometimes. God makes so many promises, and we often feel those when we feel Him drawing near. I do not like valleys. I do not “embrace” them. When things are bad, I pray hoping God will take it away. Sometimes He does. Sometimes He teaches me patience. Sometimes He walks with me through it and teaches me that I am never alone. I am grateful for my valleys. (but I promise you, I would pray against them when they come again). But I trust God to “fix” it or walk with me.
Thank you Lord for Mountains and Valleys. Amen
