Wars & Rumors

Matt 24:6-8. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains

There has always been a war going on some place in the world. Recently we have prayed for Ukraine and Russia. Then it was Isreal and Palestine. But recently, Isreal has been in conflict with Iran. President Trump has always considered Isreal an ally. I am not, personally, alarmed by his decision to bomb a terrorist country to halt their production of nuclear bombs.

Genesis 12:3 "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you." This verse establishes a direct link between actions towards Israel and God's blessing or curse. 

Numbers 24:9: "May those who bless you be blessed and those who curse you be cursed." This verse, spoken by Balaam, echoes the sentiment of blessing those who bless Israel and cursing those who curse them. 

2 Tim 3:5  But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

We have watched society get more depraved, more salacious, more angry, more hateful, less respectful or caring of others. I don’t have to say more, we see it every day. Sin is justified; even sin is legalized. It can be quite disconcerting, even alarming to watch the news.

BUT GOD! But we do not have to worry, we do not have to be distressed. We have hope in a mighty God. This God created the world, and everything in it. He hung the stars in the sky. He made fish swim and birds fly. Do you not believe that He will save us? He said over and over again that He will.

John 14:2-3 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.

God did not give us the book of Revelation so that we would build bomb shelters, He gave it to us so that we would build tables, to invite the lost.

Time is short. God’s timing is different than ours. Will the rapture happen today? Next month? Next year or in a hundred years? Who knows? But it is our job as followers of Christ to be prepared! Get our own house in order and seek to bring others with us and read your Bible!

Today, I implore you not to be unsettled by the all the news. Rest in Jesus. He is the only one with the peace that passes all understanding!

Lord, we pray that you will protect our nation, our military and all of our leaders. The world seems to get crazier every day, but we know that you have the ultimate say in everything that happens. Give us all peace as we remember that. AMEN
