I heard someone say “God will use your everyday life to teach you about Him.” While planting flowers I realized that when you put a seed or bulb into the ground and cover it with soil, you have faith that something will grow. Now, I have squirrels that come and dig up my bulbs and eat them, so I am thinking next time I may need to pray over each bulb…. Just kidding. We have faith that as the seasons change, we look forward to it with an expectancy that the next season is indeed coming. When we see a robin for the first time, it’s a sign that spring is here. When we go to bed at night, we have faith that the sun will come up again in the morning. When we see GOD’s rainbow after the rain, we remember His promise about never flooding the entire earth again.
Genesis 1:14 And God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years,
Deut. 11:14 He will give the rain for your land in its season, the early rain and the later rain, that you may gather in your grain and your wine and your oil.
Just like he sends signs and promises about the seasons, so that we can KNOW that He is at work in the heavens.
Psalm 139:16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
Isn’t it amazing to think that the creator of the world, the one who set those “lights” in heavens, sends rain when needed, and turns the earth in a perfect turn as seasons need it. He also knew the number of days we would spend here on earth before we were born.
Last year a mom and dad House Finch built a nest in my hanging basket just outside my front door. First, I found the nest, then the next day there were eggs, then a while after there were babies and then the babies grew and finally, they flew away. It was amazing to watch the mom and dad care for them. Every time I walked out of my front door, they flew to the nearby tree branch and fussed at me. Making sure I knew that they were watching their babies. God gave us these incredible birds, and all animals to enjoy. It never ceases to amaze me how they know to care for their young. God gave them that knowledge and ability. I guaranty you that the only time those birds have anxiety is when they are fearful of a real threat like a predator. Unlike we humans who seem to be affected at times by the very wind of change that blows around us.
Genesis 1:20. 20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the vault of the sky.”
He is the God of details. Look at the magnificent colors of flowers, the majestic mountain tops, the beauty of birds and animals and how God gave them instinct to raise their young and teach them to survive.
All these things HE created. The most amazing thing is that he created us and he loves us SO much! He is not only the God of the majestic, but he is also the God of everyday, here where we need him. Amen
