People invest in things that they see as having value to them. Some people invest in the stock market. Some people invest time in their marriages, their children. Some people invest in their education so that they can “better” themselves. Some people invest all their time in making money. All of these things are good in the right amounts, but what about investing time in your relationship with Jesus?
I know people who say yes, I think there may be a God but He’s not real to me, He’s not in my life, I do not see any “value” in following Him. They feel He has these tough rules to follow. Usually, the things that these people invest in, have a “return” in their minds. If they see Jesus as a tough task master, they may not see Him as a great value to their life, just a hinderance to their “fun”. (Which WE know is not true!!)
What would you tell this person about your Jesus? Would you tell them that Jesus is the creator of the world? That he healed people, performed miracles? Would you tell them that He is a comforter when we need one? That He died and rose to life again so that our sins would be forgiven and if we just follow Him, we will go to live with Him in heaven? I think I would tell them that He is one with the Father and what a kind, loving father He is. He has a plan for my life, He is ALWAYS with me and ALWAYS wants what is best for me. He will never leave or forsake me.
In A.W Tozer’s book The Pursuit of God, he says “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”
I believe there is nothing in THIS world more important than following Jesus!! The more I learn about Jesus & heaven and the more I learn about hell…. There can be no mistake. Eternity is TOO long & too important!!

After years of attending different denominations, I decided that Baptists scare you into heaven, Catholics guilt you into heaven and Lutherans love you into heaven. Of course, that’s just a silly synopsis. But I do believe that Tozer was on to something. We NEED to have the right mind set where God is concerned! We need to know all the facets that make up our savior. We need to KNOW Him!
Lord, THANK you for being that loving father, my savior, my redeemer. The one I can count on any time, and any place! Give me the desire to spend time in your word, to learn what you have for me, what you have done for me and how I can serve you. Amen
