Rich or Famous- All the same at the throne

I found these famous people's death bed remarks online. They all have one very tragic thing in common. They got to the end of their time on earth and their disregard of God in life was going to be a problem in their death! There were many more equally as sad! Some of the people were “evil” their whole lives, but some were people who were just living their lives assuming that they could be the “master’s” of their fates and live a life without God, well you can. God is a just God who lets you make those decisions. But when you are wrong about Him, there is a huge consequence to pay. He lets us go along our merry way, He calls us, He beckons us, He invites us. He shows us His amazing love, but He never goes where He is not invited. I found these so sad! Apparently, there are approximately 2 deaths every second. So how many in one day say words similar to these?

NAPOLEON BONAPARTE—French emperor who, like Adolf Hitler, brought death to millions to satisfy his greedy, power-mad, selfish ambitions for world conquest: "I die before my time, and my body will be given back to the earth. Such is the fate of him who has been called the great Napoleon. What an abyss between my deep misery and the eternal kingdom of Christ!”

SIR FRANCIS NEWPORT—Head of an English Atheist club, to those gathered around his deathbed: "You need not tell me there is no God, for I know there is one, and that I am in his presence! You need not tell me there is no hell. I feel myself already slipping. Wretches, cease your idle talk about there being hope for me! I know I am lost forever! Oh, that fire! Oh, the insufferable pangs of hell! Oh, that I could lie for a thousand years upon the fire that is never quenched, to purchase the favor of God and be united to Him again. But it is a fruitless wish. Millions and millions of years will bring me no nearer the end of my torments than one poor hour. Oh, eternity, eternity forever and forever! Oh, the insufferable pangs of Hell!”

DAVID HUME—Atheist philosopher famous for his philosophy of empiricism and skepticism of religion: He cried loud on his death bed "I am in flames!" It is said his desperation was a horrible scene.

There were many more of these “famous” people, most were professed atheists.

After reading these, are you going to be working harder at telling people about Jesus? I feel we all have family members who are not saved yet. USUALLY, they do not want to hear it from us. But I pray all the time to put someone in their path who will tell them about Jesus. Christian friends can be an incredible “tool” for transforming, mentoring lives, and just uplifting each other. Once you have made a decision for Jesus, staying connected to the vine, NOTHING can change that.

John 10:27-28. 27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.

Isn’t it comforting to know that once you give your life to Christ, having a relationship with Him, HE will NEVER let you go!!

Thank you Lord for your goodness to those you call your own. Here in this life, and the life ever after!! Amen
