The Lord Bless You

Jul 5, 2024

Numbers 6:24-26"The LORD bless you and keep you;

25 The LORD make His face shine upon you,

And be gracious to you;

26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,

And give you peace."

Such familiar words. Do we really ever THINK about them? This "Lord" we speak of, who is He? HE is the one who designed the heavens, the earth and everything in and around them. He made every creature, small and large. He hung the stars in the sky. He made you and I so wonderfully that there just is no explanation for how amazing the human body is and how it works. I was in a Sunday School class once that talked about the miracle of conception. It is NO small thing. I was blessed to be able to conceive easily but so many are not and if you saw this video, you would think it crazy that ANYone actually conceives.

Do we ever think about the words in this blessing? I have heard it so many times and it is beautiful, but this "Lord" blesses us, he is working in our favor for good things to happen in our lives. He will "keep us", safe from harm, evil, destruction and the works of the enemy. He will MAKE His face shine on you. Can you imagine for just a moment, what that is like? The bible says God's face is so brilliant that no one can look upon it. So, if His face is that brilliant that we cannot look upon it, how amazing must it be for Him to make His face shine on ours. GRACE. Do you need grace today? I can't imagine my life without His grace every day! The older I get, the more I realize how much I sin every day, and how I appreciate his grace and mercy.

I did not fully understand verse 26, from my research it appears to mean that it is like God takes our face in His hands and gazes into our eyes. What an intimate thing for a Father to do. And He gives us peace. There is no other place on this earth that we can get real peace and after God took the time to bless us, I have no doubt that we would have His peace.

Lord, be with us today, help us to dwell on this blessing and the intimacy that it brings. For that is what we long for, to be near to you.

Amen
