All Over the US
I wrote a devotion on Wed, but after rereading it on Thursday, I decided to go a different route. Basically, in Sandwich we have an issue with our Library. They have several LGBTQ books on the children’s bookshelf, and many are very graphic and indeed pornographic. There was a meeting about it Tue night, and many Christians showed up. So did the supporters from the “other side”. I will say that it was mostly respectful and orderly, but the bottom line is, they will probably leave those books right there where 5 yr olds can get them and see disgusting pictures of sex acts. We knew that we could not ban the books; we just wanted them placed in the adult section. I am sure that if this is going on in sweet little Sandwich IL, it is going on all over the U.S.
Philippians 2:15-17: "That you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain".
2 Tim 3:1-9 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over gullible women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these teachers oppose the truth. They are men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.
The Bible tells us over and over about how evil people will be towards the end time. We should not be surprised. How then, can we protect or beautiful children from being exposed to this? Stay close and never stop being vigilant about what they are doing, watching, reading, “googling”, playing on game systems…. Parents, I know it’s hard!!! But God gave YOU those children. They are a gift beyond measure! They are the hope of the next generation. The years seem long, but the days go fast. Be present, be available. I am not judging, I could have been a lot better in these areas, but the world was an easier place 40 yrs ago.
Lord, we know that you warned us about the evil that will be going on in this world. We know we need to stay alert to not be taken down by the wiles of the enemy. Help us to be aware of his effect on our lives and put on the full armor of God at every turn. Lord, we love you and thank you for being our protector and Father. Amen
