Who is God?
While listening to WBGL I heard them ask, “WHO IS GOD to you?” She said to think about it and not give a Sunday School answer. The very first thing that came to my mind was “Loving Father”. To me He has been that often because that is what I needed and could easily identify with. Honestly, it took some time before that was a comfortable thought because our human parents are not perfect.
God is the creator of all things. He knit me in my mother’s womb. He knows how many hairs are on my head! In thinking of this question though, I found it hard to stop giving Him titles. I am SO grateful that He is my savior, where would I be without Him? He is my physician who cares for me when I am not well. He has done amazing things for my health at times when doctors were baffled. He is my provider. Everything I receive is from His hand. There has been more than one time when we were not sure how we were going to pay for an unexpected bill but the money has always been there right when we needed it. He has been a friend when my heart was broken and I just needed someone to talk to without judgement.
God is all powerful, He can do anything He wishes. He is in control but He allows us to have free will so things do not always go as He wishes or as we might wish. He is omnipotent. He is Omnipresent. He is everywhere at one time. This is a hard one for our little minds, but I know for a fact, He hears my prayers and thousands of others at the same time!
Elohim - strong One, divine (Genesis 1:1)
Adonai - Lord, indicating a Master-to-servant relationship (Exodus 4:10, 13)
El Elyon - Most High, the strongest One (Genesis 14:20)
El Roi - the strong One who sees (Genesis 16:13)
El Shaddai - Almighty God (Genesis 17:1)
El Olam - Everlasting God (Isaiah 40:28)
Yahweh - LORD “I AM,” meaning the eternal, self-existent God (Exodus 3:13, 14).
There is so much more to this question. God is so much more.
Lord, there is no way I could ever thank you for everything that you have done for me. Your love is beyond comprehension. I just praise you for all that you are and all that you do. Amen
