Psalm 77:12 (ESV)
I will ponder all your work.
and meditate on your mighty deeds.

I was driving west as the sun was setting the other day. It was overcast so I couldn’t see the sun; however, there was a slight gap in the clouds on the horizon. As the sun started to appear in this opening I paused a movie the kids were watching. I pointed out how we were going to see the sun between the clouds and it was going to be brilliant! It was only what seemed like a few seconds later when I heard, “can you hit play Daddy”. Of course, I did what any loving father would do and forced them to watch the entire thing unfold before hitting the play button.

Psalm 77:12 isn’t referring to the wondrous physical creation God has made. These verses are referring to the great deeds God has done to save and preserve His people. The Psalm writer also says how he is going to take time to reflect on these mighty deeds. I took time to notice the sunset the other day, but my kids weren’t interested. How often am I too busy to take notice of someone else because I am preoccupied or distracted? I know when I’m working, I have a tendency to be too focused on my task at hand to take notice of a co-worker that may need a “hello” and “how are you doing”. I just need to slow down. I know what mighty deeds God has done in my life, but how will someone else listen to me if I am too busy to notice them. Let’s ponder what is happening around us so that we can share what our Lord has done for us.
