Sep 14, 2021

It is the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. If you are over 30 yrs old, you have some memory of it. Watching the horror of that day, we all remember the pain and sadness when thousands of people died and we all knew the safe, secure lives we lead would forever be changed to some degree. I will not watch the hours of TV in remembrance. I do not need to. I remember. But I did see a news clip from right after the 2nd tower came down. Dianne Sawyer was standing in the middle of the street, debris & dirt every where when some papers came floating down. She said, “Here is proof that yesterday these papers were important and today, they are just not.” It’s true! What is here today will not hold much value one day.

1 Cor 15:51-52 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

One day, we will each have lived our last day on earth. The things we spend time on now, will be of little consequence on that last day. The only thing that matters while we are here is what we do for the Kingdom. The people we tell about Jesus, the people we love & show love to in Jesus name.

That beautiful Sept 11th morning when our country was attacked, started like EVERY other morning. Those who lost their lives went about their morning like they did every day. But in the “twinkling of an eye….” It was over. So many lives changed when family was lost, and even those of us who didn’t know anyone who was killed, even we lost. We lost an innocence and sense of security. They called it a “wake up call”. For a time, American flags were everywhere & people were praying together. It’s funny how we all turn to the one living God when things get tough. Of course we do! He’s the God who is always there for us, the One who always answers prayer, the One who keeps the promises He makes. The Bible is FULL of prophecy, promises and miracles.

Psalm 46:1-2 God is our refuge and strength, a great help in times of distress.
2 Therefore we will not be frightened when the earth roars, when the mountains shake in the depths of the seas,

I am praising God today for His steadfast love for us. A love SO deep that He died so that WE might live. At a time when the world around us just gets crazier, we have the assurance that He is on our side. One day, whether we close our eyes that final time or we are raptured, in a twinkling of an eye, we will be absent from the body, present with the Lord. PLEASE don’t miss it!
