45 days after Roger and I were married, my mom, my dad, my brother, who was 12 and my sisters who are 2 and 4years old all moved to Florida. Their home there had an inground pool. Soon after moving in, my mom was busy unpacking, dad was at work, the youngest sister, came running to tell mom that the 4 yr old had walked off the end of the diving board into the pool. Of course, panicked my mom went running out to save her. She was happy as a clam hanging onto the side of the pool. My mom asked if she had fallen in and she said, “no I dived off the diving board.” The girls have never had any type of swim lessons and my mom asked her how she got over to the side of the pool. She replied “the nice man came in the pool and held me & brought me to the side. Then he left.” Now their back yard had a very secure privacy fence that was locked and mom looked all over for someone to thank. It became quickly apparent that there was no one around. Children have great trust and faith. They are dependent on others so maybe they have to or they just haven’t learned to NOT trust yet.

As I was reading in Joshua, it seemed to me that possibly Joshua was a little nervous about his impending battle with Jericho.

In Josh 5:13 When Joshua was by Jericho, he lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, ca man was standing before him dwith his drawn sword in his hand. And Joshua went to him and said to him, “Are you for us, or for our adversaries?” 14 And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the LORD. Now I have come.” And Joshua efell on his face to the earth and worshiped3 and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?” 15 And the commander of the LORD’s army said to Joshua, f“Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.

Think of the times in the Bible where Jesus has been there probably physically in most cases. We know he shut the mouth of the Lions for Daniel. We know he calmed the flames and kept Meshach, Shadrach and Abednego safe from the flames. So many other times as well. So if God incarnate, Jesus, shows up for these people in the Bible, what makes you /us think he will not show up for us when we need Him? It may not be physically, but He promises time and again that He will never leave you, nor forsake you. We will never know for sure what happened with my sister, but should we be quick to discount an angel or Jesus? Reading these & so many more verses…. I have to say, He’s always there! I can’t wait to start my day with the knowledge that HE goes with me!
