K.I.S.S. – what does it stand for? Hint - There is no ING…..there is no tree either? It stands for Keep It Simple Stupid. I can’t remember when I first heard it, but it was probably in some complicated class like calculus or some type of math that I would never use. Regardless, everything around us seems to be growing more and more complicated. One thing is for certain, we are all better off keeping things simple and sometimes life gets so complicated that we lose sight of what it is all about – Jesus!

Hebrews 12:1-3
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great a cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Preceding these verses, in Hebrews 11, we read about examples of those who had faith in God during their time here on earth such as Noah, Abraham, Moses and many more. We use these examples as encouragement to run our race here on earth. However, there is so much happening in our society today that we are getting distracted from what we should be focused on – Jesus! What hinders you today? Is there something that is distracting you? Is there something that is weighing you down? God is telling us that it will happen, but don’t lose heart! Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus! Don’t let these distractions and sin pull you off course. The race of life isn’t easy and often becomes complicated, so you will need endurance. You will be tested in your faith, but this will produce perseverance in you.

James 1:2-3
2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

We have a Savior that has run the race, endured the cross so that we can have eternal life with Him. Throw off EVERYTHING that hinders you! Don’t try to pick and choose. It won’t be easy, but consider our Savior Christ Jesus who suffered infinitely more so that we could have the joy of being with him in Heaven some day. So Keep It simple and Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus!
