I saw a challenge on FB today. It said, “If you woke up tomorrow and all you had was what you thanked God for today, what would you have”.
WOW! That made me think. So often I am good about thanking God but yesterday…. I don’t remember saying thank you. It is very easy to get busy and forget. It shouldn’t be, the fact that God wakes us up every day, we have food, shelter & people who care about us…. Those alone are reasons to sing his praises.

Matt. 6:26-34. 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one [a]cubit to his [b]stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [c]arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
When our boys were young it seemed I worried ALL the time. There were so many things to worry about. Would there be enough money to care for them properly? Would we be good parents so they would grow up to be productive citizens? Would everyone stay healthy? And on & on…. Most of those worries were “borrowing trouble from tomorrow” as my grandma would say. But verse 34 says “Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Which I believe means, just concentrate on today, it’s enough to handle, and of course, the prior verses tell us NOT to worry because God has it all in His hands.
We know the words of Matt. to be true, so it’s easy to just assume that He is here taking care of us. There was a time that I had the verse on my refrigerator “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” I needed to see it in front of me every morning so that I would remember to read His words & talk to Him a little that day. He is a God of relationship. He wants you to spend time with Him. If you have teens or adult children, you can relate, they get to busy to spend time with us. The sweetest part of my day is when I seek him. My entire day goes so much better if I spend that time with Him. I have even asked him to work out the schedule of my day when it has been so busy that I couldn’t see how it would all fit… but guess what? When I give it to Him, it all falls into place. Lean on Him today. He is waiting JUST for you.
