When my sons were in confirmation they had to learn their favorite verse. My oldest son found his quite quickly. “John 11:35.” He said proudly with a smirk. He knew that would not pass moms inspection. “Jesus wept”. Is probably The most popular verse ever for confirmation kids. As I was remembering this conversation, I was thinking about the verse and how it relates to us. It was just before Jesus would raise Lazarus from the grave. If you remember in the story Lazarus sisters Mary and Martha had sent word to Jesus to ask him to come quickly as their brother was gravely ill. 11:4 Jesus says “The sickness will not end in death, no it is for God’s glory so that God’s son may be glorified through it.” Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick he stayed where he was two more days. When he did arrive, Mary said “Lord if you’ve been here my brother would not have died”. Upon seeing all the people weeping,” Jesus wept.” Think about that for a moment. Jesus was God himself. He loved these people and as their heart broke so did his. What compassion. What love. Yes! He was God. But he was also man. He knows our hurts, he knows our joys, and he is always there to comfort and share. He wants you to call on Him today. Share your pain and your joy with Him.
