A friend posted on Facebook about a cardinal that she found just sitting in the middle of the street. It didn’t move, so she stopped and it didn’t move even as she approached it. She was able to pick it up & hold it close to her, it made eye contact & seemed to be comforted. It touched her nose with its beak. She took it to the vet to be looked at & they said it had a broken clavicle. They said it must be very painful for the little bird & gave her the address for a place that would take it & nurse it (hopefully) back to health. As she drove, the little bird sitting in the box beside her sang a few notes. And then a few more. The little bird who was in too much pain to try to get away from her, was singing.
Matthew 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.
I LOVE Matthew 10:29. God is watching us & every creature that He made. Imagine, 2 sparrows are only worth a penny, yet God our Father, KNOWS when one falls to the ground.
I took 2 things away from this story. 1st, if that precious little bird could sing even in pain, who am I to do less? 2nd, If God knows when this little one falls to the ground, how much more is he aware of me, my life, my pain, my needs, my prayer requests….
Matt. 25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

One of my dad’s favorite hymns.
1.Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
oRefrain:
I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
2.“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
3.Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
