Far too often I’ve heard my peers claim their pasts are too damaged for them to start going to church now. Because of poor decisions that were made, they’re not “good” or “Christian” enough to have a relationship with God. I’d be lying if I said the same thinking hadn’t crossed my mind once or twice before. What do I, a sinner, have to offer Jesus?

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.’

The truth is, there is never a bad time to start getting to know God. He wants us to talk to Him, trust Him, and fulfill the purpose He’s given us from the very first time our hearts beat. No matter how wayward your journey has been up until this point, God won’t turn you away because of your past. In fact, one might argue the best time to ignite your faith is during those darkest times when you feel the least deserving - because that’s probably when you need it most, and God knows that, too.

Isaiah 43:18 “forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.”

Whether you’re 17, 29, 41, 64, or 88, it’s not too late to accept Jesus Christ as your savior! He’s already loved you from the day you were created. Every stage of life brings difficult decisions, temptations, and opportunities for sin. And let’s not forget, even when we have a relationship with God, we are still sinners - all the same as someone else who hasn’t found their way to church or an open Bible just yet. How lucky are we to be children of God, and experience His unwavering love and forgiveness?
