Better to stand on the Word than your soapbox. (I’m standing on both here)
Defunding Police, Gay Marriage, Abortion at any stage, Peaceful demonstrations that burn buildings…
Isaiah 5:20-21a Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Lately, I’m sure we’ve all heard or said something like, “I can’t believe the times we’re living in” or “Everything seems upside down – what’s right is wrong and what’s wrong is right”. Some glaring examples:
Gay Marriage:
Our society, happening today- As we all know, homosexuality has been in the world way before our time, but most of us can remember a time when it was at best a shameful act. Now adays it’s not only accepted among much of the general public its actually celebrated with parades! And if you don’t promote it, you’re the one that’s ostracized!
God’s view, Written thousands of years ago - Hebrews 13:4 Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. 1 Corinthians 7:2 But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. Leviticus 18:22 You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
Abortion:
Our society, happening today – In 2017, Planned Parenthood performed 332,757 abortions. Though they are the largest chain nation-wide that provides these heart-stopping procedures, this only represents approximately 36% of the US abortions annually. In January of this year, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam, Dem., defended the Repeal Act that would legalize abortion right up to the point of natural birth. He says if the baby is born alive the mother can decide to give it care or let it die. Vice Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is rated 100% by NARAL, the extreme pro-abortion political arm of the pro-choice movement. Kamala Harris has boldly and proudly been at the forefront against saving the lives of the unborn. Kamala Harris is now in line to be the next Vice President of the United States of America and many are concerned she could easily then become the President of the United States of America.
God’s view, Written thousands of years ago - Psalm 139: 13-16 For you formed my inward parts;
you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.[a]
Wonderful are your works;
my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
the days that were formed for me,
when as yet there was none of them.
Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed you in your mother’s body, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart to serve me. I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.” Luke 1:15 “He will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother’s womb. Genesis 9:6 Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.” Exodus 23:7 Do not kill the innocent and righteous.” Deuteronomy 30:19 “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore, choose life, that you and your offspring may live.”
As you know, I could go on and on about things happening today from violence to riots to you name it. God also reminds us that some of us were as such as these prior to being saved.
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. Romans 1:32 Though they know God's decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them. James 4:17 So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.
We know what’s happening today in society and we’ve read what God’s view was and wrote to us thousands of years ago. But remember, in Hebrews 13:8 of God’s Word we are told that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.
