Dec 24, 2021

I JUST LOVE this time of year! I love the pretty lights, the beautifully decorated trees, the wonderful mood people are in…. Children laughing, people passing, Meeting smile after smile
And on every street corner you'll hear Silver bells, silver bells, It's Christmas time in the city.
I love the TV commercials. There is one where the man says to the woman, “I got you a little something for Christmas”. He whistles and the adorable puppy runs out. BUT she says, “I got you a little something” She whistles and this huge new $70,000 pick up truck comes rushing through the snow. Another the woman says “I bought us an early gift, fitness watches!” With that the husband says, “I got us a little something too.” They go outside to find a brand new SUV AND a NEW Truck. ($100,000 total) I know, I know, it’s the thought that counts. But wait, what thought was this? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE new cars!! More than I should. And we all buy gifts for our families that have NOTHING to do with Christmas, well, that’s ok as long as we keep Christ at the center of our Christmas celebration.

Luke 2:8-14 Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And [a]behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a [b]manger.”13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill[c] toward men.

In the words of that Grinch…. “Maybe JUST Maybe Christmas doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas PERHAPS, means a little bit more”

Praise God that HE sent His only son and that we do celebrate in our own ways the birth of our King. I have enjoyed writing the devotions because it has made me spend time thinking about the infant birth and the reason that God sent Him to earth.
May you be richly blessed this Christmas season.
