Ps 37:23-24. “The steps of the Godly are directed by the Lord. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will not fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”
What a picture this draws of a parent. Parents, do you NOT delight in every detail of your child’s life? How we love to spend time with our children and how we love to help them navigate life.
I remember thinking the first time I read this that I HAVE stumbled AND fallen so I didn’t understand the verse. Now I believe that this speaks of our faith & that even though we are imperfect people and we may stumble with sin, He will not let us fall away from Him.
Romans 8:38-39. “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below- indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
When our boys were little, we went to Florida to see my parents. They took us to the beach. My dad took their hands & walked out into the deeper waves. A wave would hit them & their little bodies sort of bobbed in the water as they hung on to their anchor. As one particularly large wave crashed against them, my dad lost his grip on my son and he went under the water for just a second before my dad scooped him up again. Ps 37 reminds me of this story. Life does hit us in waves. Some waves are exciting, like the wedding we went to this past weekend. Some are devastating. But we know that as we bob in the waves, God is there with His mighty hand ready to scoop us up & never let us go. Call on Him today. Right now, let Him know how grateful you are to know that HE has you in the palm of His hand ALL the time.
