His Mercies are New Every Morning

Isaiah 143:8 Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,

    for I have put my trust in you.

Show me the way I should go,

    for to you I entrust my life.

Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;[a]

    his mercies never come to an end;

23 they are new every morning;

    great is your faithfulness.

Psalm 5:3 O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;

    in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you[a] and watch.

Psalm 30:5 For his anger lasts only a moment,

    but his favor lasts a lifetime;

weeping may stay for the night,

    but rejoicing comes in the morning.

Psalm 90:14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,

    that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Psalm 59:16. But I will sing of your strength,

    in the morning I will sing of your love;

for you are my fortress,

    my refuge in times of trouble.

So you see the common denominator here is “morning”. What a comfort to know that the creator of the universe, the one who knit us together in our mother’s womb is there for us. Our days can be hard. Some nights are darker than others. Psalm 30:5 seems like a promise to me that no matter what is going on, especially if we suffer lose, He will restore our joy in the “morning”. You have experienced it, a loss, a sadness, but somehow, in the midst of the darkness, His light shines and there is joy.

Isaiah 143:8 is a good way to start a day. Acknowledging His unfailing love for us and our trust in Him to guide us.

Lord, Thank You for your steadfast love and your mercies that greet us every morning, knowing that no matter what yesterday held, today will be a fresh start with love and forgiveness. Restore our joy daily. Amen
