Have you ever been guilty of forgetting how incredible our God is? I certainly have. Maybe daily! I catch myself forgetting to ask God for help with the things I should & often not believing that He will answer that prayer.
When God’s people were ready to cross the Jordan River into the Promised land, God told Joshua to take the people lead by the Ark of the Covenant to the edge of the river. It was the time of year that the river was at it’s highest/deepest & fastest rushing waters. (but that’s how God does it! He doesn’t do the easy thing). God stopped the rushing water upstream while 40,000 men (plus women & children) crossed the river into the Promised land. ( Think about that many people crossing a river at one time! It is an overwhelming thought in and of it’s self) Once they were all securely on the other side, God told Joshua to choose one man from each of the 12 tribes to go back to the river & each get a stone. When they brought the stones to Joshua, he stacked them up into a pile.

Joshua 4: 20 And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. 21 He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22 tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ 23 For the LORD your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The LORD your God did to the Jordan what he had done to the Red Sea[a] when he dried it up before us until we had crossed over. 24 He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful and so that you might always fear the LORD your God.”

If you remember, the reason they were stuck in the wilderness was because of disobedience, disbelief and murmuring and complaining. God does so much to show us that He is real, that He is in control, that HE has our best interest yet, how often do we forget? I do! I think I will build a pile of stones to remind me!
