Feb 5, 2021

I read a quote recently, "Fear sees a threat, anxiety imagines one". We have all heard of the fight or flight response that fear invokes Anxiety just makes you feel like there is no place to run to. That the train is on the track headed right for you & there is probably no way to stop it. I read that in 2004 Americans, who lead the world in taking anti anxiety drugs, spent $2.1 billions on them. That was 2004, I think it might have gone up in 2020!
As Christians, we KNOW that God gives the peace that passeth understanding!! The Bible talks about peace so many times and about the fact that worry will not ad a day to your life with worry. Matt 12:25-31
5 And which of you by worrying can add a [a]day to his [b]life’s span? 26 Therefore if you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about the other things? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither labor nor [c]spin; but I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 28 Now if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? You of little faith! 29 And do not [d]seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying. 30 For [e]all these things are what the nations of the world [f]eagerly seek; and your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But [g]seek His kingdom, and these things will be [h]provided to you.
Peace is elusive. We pray. We feel it, it stays for a while, then BOOM! That next storm hits. It used to make me feel guilty. How can God assume that I love Him & am the Christian I strive to be if I can not even keep my peace when it's promised so freely? Then I realized, the entire Bible is set up to be read daily, even 10 min at day will change your life. Every time we read, God speaks to us & we get a portion of peace from that. God is ALWAYS a prayer away. He will give you that peace. So what if you have days where you ask for it every 10 min? He will be glad you are seeking Him ! Rest in His peace today, knowing that HE alone has our future & HIS plans are so much higher than ours.
John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
