I have had many conversations with young mothers lately. They are concerned not so much for themselves but for the world that we may be leaving for their children. There is much to be anxious about these days. I have written before about God‘s sovereignty, that he is in control, and that nothing is a surprise to him. I believe that he has set each of us in this place and time for a reason. I think he has equipped us for this time. I also believe that some of the struggles we face today will make us stronger tomorrow, because they’re not easy times. We grow in the valleys not on the mountain tops. I have written about the fact that God placed Esther in the palace so that she could accomplish God’s will. Esther 4:14 speaks of being in this place “for such a time as this”. In first Samuel it speaks of goliath terrorizing God’s people for 40 days. Finally a young boy comes to face the 9 foot giant with no armor and nothing but a few rocks and a sling. He definitely was placed there for such a time as this. There was Joshua and the wall. There are many examples of people in the Bible who accomplished incredible things because God put them there at that point in time. First you have to know with all your heart that God is in control, because he is. Next you need to move forward teaching your children as it says in Deuteronomy 6:7 “you should teach your children diligently and Talk to them when you sit in the house and when you walk by the way and when you lay down and when you rise up.” This is how we are to instruct our children on the Bible and God. If you need to read that again... it’s saying, speak of God every time you are with your children. It’s that important. In doing so you will instill in them a love of God, a mind of peace and joy, a sense of who they belong to (confidence), And the knowledge that they can change the world with God’s help if God instills that desire. Also, this applies to grandparents. I know that Roger and I use every opportunity afforded us to speak with our grandkids about God. What more important topic is there? There is nothing more important than their salvation in the Lord.
Lastly, remember, The Bible says in one form or another To not be fearful, 365 times. That’s once for every day of the year. So do not be fearful about your future, or your children’s future. Instead dedicate them to the Lord and he will direct your ways and their ways. These definitely do seem like uncertain and difficult times. Just don’t forget that we serve a mighty God who remains on the throne and has a plan for each one of us. Jeremiah 29:11. Don’t miss it it’s gonna be great!
