Roger asked me if the story last week about the girl who left home & came back like the prodigal was a true story. It is, but after I submitted it, I realized, that was only part of the story. The parents had sleepless nights before she came back. BUT there were sleepless nights after as well. She had drug problems, she had the baby, she went to church and gave her life to God, but then found herself leaving the baby with her mom and going out to get high. Eventually she did get her act together and the whole family is doing better, but it wasn’t just that easy, happy ending that I portrayed last week. It was a struggle. The “friend” is someone from a bible study years ago and I haven’t kept up with her, but I do know she spoke of how it was only God that kept them from falling apart at the time.
“Ps 139:10. Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.”
In church Sunday we sang this song and Pastor had us sing a stanza and chorus one more time because he said some of us needed it today. I looked around and even though I do not know everyone yet and do not know what is going on in their lives, I realize, there is something going on in most of our lives. Many people with health issues, money, jobs, marriage, children, fears about our future, our country…. Life is never easy, but it sure seems harder these days. One thing we have for sure is His steady anchor, we cling to him, but we can’t keep our hold on our own. I am SO grateful that HE holds us fast & will never let us go!!

When I fear my faith will fail
Christ will hold me fast
When the tempter would prevail
He will hold me fast
I could never keep my hold
Through life's fearful path
For my love is often cold
He must hold me fast
