Ann Wilsons big hit starts like this:

Are you past the point of weary?
Is your burden weighing heavy?
Is it all too much to carry?
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
Do you feel that empty feeling?
'Cause shame's done all its stealing
And you're desperate for some healing
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
… He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that he can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus

I know many of you have heard the song & many saw her at Helmar Palooza. Her story is that she is currently only 19 and had lost her brother and as a way to keep her sanity, she started singing praise songs to God. Her mother heard her & said “you need to pursue this!!” She has also written several songs.
Maybe you haven’t lost a loved one recently, maybe you have. But I can tell you, I know how life can wear you down!! I think we have all felt these words before. Weary, burdened, desperate for healing, and often there just is NO WAY. BUT WAIT! There IS!! HE is the God of making “a way”. The WAY MAKER! There is No way to make water into wine. BUT HE DID! There is no way to walk on water, BUT HE DID! There is no way to heal the blind, BUT HE DID! There is no way to feed 5000 men with a boy’s lunch of fish & bread. BUT HE DID! There is no way to raise from the tomb, BUT HE DID! He CAN make a way! And He will make a way for you and I.
It seems the evil in the world is winning some days, but our God is STILL on the throne! There is not one thing that happens that he cannot turn for good to further HIS plan. Something caught my eye and made me read Joshua chapter 1 again. (bad paraphrase, but it caught MY eye) It said : Moses is dead, now get up and go. It actually says “After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord….” God goes on to tell them about crossing the Jordan and giving his people the lands that He promised them, telling them that He will be with them, that He will never leave or forsake them. He does tell them in strong language (penalty of death) that they do need to obey the laws given them, but He encourages them that HE will be there with them. He ALSO says “Be Strong and Courageous”. He says this FOUR times in just the first chapter. That must have been VERY important or He certainly would not have said it 4 times.
We are in very uncertain times. All you have to do is see 2 minutes of the news and you will go running for your prayer closet! (possibly hiding UNDER the prayer shawl). What I know is that we have no need to fear when we are in the Lord. He IS that way maker. He IS the healer, redeemer, faithful friend & constant companion. We are HIS children, tucked safely under His wing, where it is so much easier to be Strong and Courageous.
